Despite only beginning his instructing career at the start of 2023, Harry made such an impact that by February/March, he was already working at one of the most prestigious racing circuits in the world.
But how did this opportunity come about? It wasn't just luck; it was a combination of Harry's exceptional racing talent and the foresight of Silverstone's Chief Instructor, who recognised his potential and took a chance on him. The decision has certainly paid off, and Harry has since been passing on his knowledge and skills to the next generation of racers and adventure lovers.
The Road to Silverstone: Years in the Making
Becoming an instructor at a place like Silverstone isn’t a walk in the park. Harry had to meet rigorous criteria before he could even take the instructor test. For starters, he needed multiple years of racing experience, which he had already amassed through his various competitions, including his recent stints in the Brit Car Trophy and the Porsche Club.
But that wasn't all. Harry also had to earn his international grade race license, a process that took him a whopping three years to complete. This license is no small feat; it’s a mark of a racer’s ability to compete at the highest levels of motorsport around the globe. With it in hand, Harry proved that he wasn’t just fast on the track—he had the skill, knowledge, and experience to teach others.
Why Silverstone? Harry’s Love for Instructing
So, what is it about instructing at Silverstone that Harry loves so much? We asked him directly, and his answer was as passionate as you'd expect.
“Firstly, it’s Silverstone—the home of British racing. That alone tops the list,” Harry told us. The history and prestige of the circuit are unmatched, and for Harry, teaching there is a dream come true. “There’s something incredibly special about helping others learn to drive at the same track where legends like Max Verstappen, Michael Schumacher, and Ayrton Senna have raced.”
But it’s not just the location that excites Harry. The quality of the cars he gets to work with is another major draw. “We’re talking Aston Martin, Ferrari, McLaren—the kind of high-performance cars that every racing driver dreams of driving. Instructing at Silverstone with these machines stands me in great stead for honing my racing skills even further.”
For Harry, this isn’t just a job; it’s an opportunity to keep growing as a driver while sharing his passion with others.
