What a weekend! The Time+Tide British Weekender was everything you’d hope for from a British watch event—great watches, great people, and just the right amount of banter. For BŌKEN, it was an absolute belter of a moment as we stood shoulder to shoulder with some of the finest names in British watchmaking. Not bad for a young upstart celebrating just one year in the game!
Here’s a look back at what made the weekend so unforgettable:
Odyssey Whiteout: A final hurrah!
We officially launched our Odyssey Whiteout at the Weekender. With its clean, minimalist aesthetic and bold presence, it had attendees buzzing. If this watch were a person, it’d be the one holding court in a pub, effortlessly charming the entire room.
To sweeten the occasion, we gave away an Odyssey Whiteout to one lucky winner. Let’s just say there was a lot of stiff upper-lip excitement as the winner was announced. And judging by the smiles, we think we’ve gained a lifelong fan.
The name Whiteout isn’t just about its striking white design—it signifies the final chapter for the Odyssey platform. This is the "white" Odyssey, and we’re officially "out" of creating new variations. A fitting farewell to a legendary timepiece.
The Harry Rice Piece Unique: A Real Head-Turner
Of course, the Harry Rice Piece Unique wasn’t going to let the Whiteout take all the glory. Fresh from its adrenaline-filled trip around the Nürburgring, this one-of-a-kind creation—painted by the brilliant Dial Artist—was a proper stunner. The vibrant case design and custom-painted dial had everyone oohing and aahing like they’d just seen the King walk in with a cup of tea.
The pièce de résistance? It sold for over £3,500, proving that a watch with a story (and a bit of Nürburgring grit) can truly capture the imagination.
Mingling with the Watchmaking Big Guns
Imagine this: you’re at the same event as Christopher Ward, Bremont, and Bamford, and you’re not just standing in the corner sipping a lukewarm tea—you’re in the thick of it, chatting watches and holding your own. That was us at the British Weekender.
Despite being just a year old, BŌKEN was rubbing shoulders with the legends of British horology. We even had the occasional moment of “wait, are we actually here?” But let’s not get too sentimental—there’s work to be done, and this weekend proved we’re more than ready to be a part of the British watchmaking elite.
About Effing Time: Back and Brilliant
One of the weekend’s highlights? The return of the About Effing Time podcast, hosted by the dynamic trio of Andrew McUtchen, Adrian Barker, and George Bamford. It was like the Avengers of the watch world, except with more sarcasm and fewer spandex suits.
Andrew even gave BŌKEN a cheeky little shout-out, which we’ll admit gave us a moment of smugness. Listening to these three riff about watches while slyly plugging our brand was a delight. Honestly, we’d listen to them argue about watch straps and lume for hours.
Amazing People, Incredible Studio
What truly made the weekend special was the community. From seasoned collectors to new enthusiasts, the conversations were lively, the camaraderie was real, and the passion for watches was infectious. We got to meet some absolute legends, proving once again that the watch world is as much about the people as it is about the timepieces.
And we can’t forget to mention the Time+Tide Studio—a setting so chic and stylish it felt like stepping into the future of British watchmaking. To put it simply, the Time+Tide Studio is like if a classic British members’ club and a cutting-edge design atelier had a love child—equal parts sophistication and creative energy
Media Mayhem!
The media turned out in force at the Time+Tide British Weekender, with notable appearances from watch aficionados and influencers alike. The ever-charming Watch Brothers swung by, bringing their signature enthusiasm and deep appreciation for all things horological.
But the real showstopper? EJ Ward from LBC, who not only took a shining to the Odyssey Whiteout but also seemed to develop a suspiciously strong fondness for the chutney on offer. We’re not saying it was love, but let’s just say there was a certain sparkle in their eye every time he glanced at the condiment spread.
Who knew chutney could be so persuasive?
The British Watchmaking Resurgence
If there’s one thing the Time+Tide British Weekender made clear, it’s this: British watchmaking is back, baby! From innovative designs to world-class craftsmanship, the brands on display proved that the UK isn’t just part of the conversation—it’s leading it.
The British Watchmakers' Alliance and Time+Tide have become pillars of the thriving British watchmaking resurgence, championing craftsmanship, innovation, and collaboration within the industry while providing brands like BŌKEN an invaluable platform to shine.
What’s Next? 2025 Beckons…
As for what comes next? Well, we’d love to spill the beans, but let’s just say there’s something big brewing for British Watchmakers’ Day 2025. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears to the ground—it’s going to be worth the wait. Be sure to join us and prepare to breach new ground in 2025 😉
A Final Cheers
The Time+Tide British Weekender was a weekend we’ll never forget. To everyone who stopped by, entered our giveaway, admired the Whiteout or the Harry Rice piece, or simply shared a pint and a chat with us—thank you.
Here’s to British watchmaking, and to the adventures still to come. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to polish the Whiteout and plan our next escapade.
Adventure Awaits,
The BŌKEN team
